A life dedicated to combat sports
I am Petr Petrov, known as “El Zar”. After more than 29 years in boxing and combat sports, I have channelled all my experience into creating my own equipment brand for coaches and boxers, with one clear goal: to deliver maximum protection, comfort and durability.
Before making my professional boxing debut at 17, I competed in more than 150 amateur bouts across boxing, kickboxing, MMA and wushu sanda. My professional career lasted 23 years, with a record of 42 wins, 8 losses and 2 draws.
I won six titles, including three WBC Latino championships and the NABA WBA, NABO WBO and NABF WBC belts. In 2014, I won ESPN’s Boxcino tournament after three fights in the United States. I also challenged for world titles against Marcos “Chino” Maidana and Terry Flanagan.
Why ZAR Petrov was created
The brand was founded in 2018. After my final fight in 2023, I hung up my gloves, but I never wanted to step away from boxing. Today, I dedicate myself fully to ZAR Petrov.
After testing some of the best brands on the market, I still saw room to improve the equipment. My aim was never to create just another option, but to develop the best equipment possible, focused on superior protection, comfort and long-lasting durability.
Every product is shaped by real experience in the ring and thousands of hours in gyms around the world. Before it goes on sale, each product undergoes several months of rigorous testing with professional coaches and boxers. They put it through real work, punch after punch, until it earns their final approval.
